RESTORING THE DIGNITY TO CANCER CHAMPIONS

Darling Kenya on November 6, 2018  donated wigs to the Kenya Cancer Association (KENCANSA) for cancer champions undergoing  treatment

To women, hair is associated with femininity, a reflection of own identity, liberation and beauty. Being able to make your hair how you wish to is liberating for a woman. However, cancer patients undergoing treatment cannot have this freedom. Hair loss is one of the side effects of chemotherapy and it takes away not only the freedom and femininity that come with hair, it actually takes away a woman’s value of self-image and enthusiasm. To restore the dignity that is lost through the cancer battle is one imperative approach to give hope and show support to the cancer champions in Kenya.

With this in mind, Darling hair extensions manufacturer on Tuesday -November 6, donated wigs to the Kenya Cancer Association (KENCANSA) for cancer champions undergoing radiation treatment and chemotherapy. The wigs are part of the premium product range the brand recently launched under its ‘Curls and Colour’ campaign.

The Darling Kenya CEO Gaurav Kausha, l stated that the company intends to equip our cancer champions with an indispensable freedom to effortlessly channel any style, anytime with ease. To Darling Kenya, it was a pleasure that they can make an impact to a cancer patient or a survivor.

KENCANSA Executive Director Grace Injene, said for cancer champions wigs are a step toward reclaiming their confidence and reasserting their place in their world.

Rose Chiedo, a cancer champion and a beneficiary of the wigs said that, hair loss can have a large impression on a woman’s confidence and self- worth. Many of the women struggle adjusting to the hair loss and that is why wigs are a very important part of their treatment.
